Winter Hill Farm is a small operation specializing in high quality Welsh and half-Welsh ponies. Our goal is to produce ponies that are smart, typey, trainable, athletic, and sound. We are a small operation, which means each pony is handled daily and gets lots of attention.
We started breeding Welsh ponies in the mid-1990s. Our lovely pony Chit Chat had done it all with great success, and we decided to breed her and pass along her abilities after my daughter aged out of the pony hunter divisions. Chit Chat had three beautiful fillies from the Liseter and Glannant pony lines who are now the foundation mares for our breeding program.
We show in halter and in performance classes on the Welsh pony circuit, which has been fun and successful! We’ve recently ventured into the pony hunter breeding classes at USEF shows, and hope to do more of this as classes are offered.
Winter Hill Farm is easy to find north of Rochester, Minnesota, just five miles off a major highway, and easily accessible from Interstates 90 and 35. We would love to have you stop by…we are proud of our ponies and enjoy showing them to visitors!
